Located in the heart of Honyama, Shizuoka’s prized tea-growing area, Sato-en’s signature matcha reflects over 800 years of tradition. Steep mountains and the ocean nearby produce fog, sunshine, and cool temperature. These conditions bring out more flavor in the tea during cultivation.

Satoen manages every step in-house, growing and harvesting tea, making “tencha,” and grinding tencha into matcha. Tea is grown on the slopes, soaking up sun during the day. Afternoon fog shades the fields, creating a natural "kabuse" method of covering crops. Cool air at night and in the morning brings out more flavor.

This matcha has a deep and rich flavor and bright aroma. It can be enjoyed straight or in a matcha latte. Sift 2 tsp of matcha into a bowl, add 3 oz hot water, whisk, enjoy immediately.
