This rice is grown in the Aso basin of Kumamoto. Mount Aso is an active volcano with one of the largest caldera's in the world. Over thousands of years, volcanic rock from Mount Aso has broken down into soil rich in potassium, magnesium, and iron. Shirakawa is the natural spring at the base of Mount Aso and the water source for the farms growing this rice. It is rated as one of the best 100 spring waters in Japan. 

What's Special

Koshihikari is Japan's most celebrated cooking rice, originally from Niigata. Located in Fukuoka, Kanegae is a state-of-the-art rice polishing company that works with farmers in every prefecture of Kyushu.

Serving and Use

Wash rice in cold water and strain until water runs clear Cook at a ratio of 1:1 water to rice. Adjust to your taste. This rice has a classic Japanese rice aroma and flavor. Refrigerate after opening and use fresh for best results.
